Do we really all share the same rights?

Today looking at the benefits my workplace offers for a coworker and her live in boyfriend of several years I found a nice reminder that if I were to choose to add a same sex partner to my health insurance with out being married it would be significantly more expensive then if I were to add a married spouse. $400 changes to $40 just for getting married. WOW
